Fixture Information
Kent Spitfires v Somerset Sabres
Friends Provident t20 – South Division
Sunday, 20 June 2010. 3pm start
Beckenham
The Kent Spitfires will look to return to winning ways against a star-studded Somerset Sabres line-up, as the FP t20 bandwagon rolls into Beckenham for the next two matches.
Rob Key's men fell to a 15-run defeat to the Surrey Lions on Friday as rain affected the Brit Oval clash. Surrey made 150-7, batting first, as former Kent overseas star Andrew Symonds smashed 62. In reply another fine performance from Darren Stevens (33*) was in all in vain as Kent finished on 81-5, short of the required Duckworth-Lewis score when the players were forced to leave the field.
Somerset's line-up is an illustrious one. They boast the talents of West-Indian t20 specialist Kieron Pollard in a batting setup that also includes captain Marcus Trescothick. However, they have endured a mixed start to the start to the campaign - winning only three of their opening six games. In their last outing they overcame Gloucestershire Gladitors as Zander de Bruyn's unbeaten 95 led them to a six wicket victory.
The Spitfires have named an unchanged 12 with James Goodman still in contention to make his t20 bow.
Kent: Key (C), van Jaarsveld, Northeast, Jones, Blake, Stevens, Mahmood, Tredwell, Coles, Cook, Bandara, Goodman.
