You couldn't make it up if you tried. At least sense has prevailed here and the decision has been taken in advance.

No offence, but did it really need a new thread since there is already a Kent Vs Surrey thread?

I thought it would be a good idea so as everyone saw it and it didn't get lost. Seeing as it wasnt on the official site, I believed I was helping by informing everyone.

Are there any other contractors that hire lights slightly more suited to UK conditions?

just playing devils advocate here, but there was plenty of critiscm directed at Sussex for hosting day night matches but failing to providing adequate liqhting and back up measures should  something go wrong.

What is the difference ? - this is now the second time inadequate lighting has affect a home match.

- And don't say it's not Kents fault beacuse they are not permanent lights and are just rented.  Kent know the limitations they can be used under and are accepting the risk something of something going wrong - for every risk there is a consequence.

It is not Kent's choice to have this as a day/night match - that decision is made by Sky/ECB.

There is a match on this weekend - played during the day.

I don't see why they cannot try to get day/night games played at venues with permanent lights which would probably help to reduce Mr Millman's blood pressure considerably.

Yep, I agree - they are balancing profit against supporters. I'm only watching on telly - but it does not look exceptionally windy to me. Once is unlucky, twice is beginning to look a bit fragile. I was thinking about travelling down from London to watch - very glad I didn't it looks a bit of a farce.

Straying into an area that I do not know too much about - but I would have thought Kent had the right to refuse a day night game. Also last year didnt we hold day / night games that wasn't on Sky?

Well let's not worry about all that, let's enjoy another win with our scratch XI including brilliant score from Sam Northeast, great 26 off 23 balls from Goodman, great control bowling from Coles and Edwards, great captaincy from Tredders, great prospects for our future. That we are holding our own against a near enough 1st team from Surrey is fantastic - and Denly wins the Ireland game for England too. Great stuff.

Yep, your right - very chuffed our boys win through on tricky days like this.

Stop press: Key on Sky says he doesnt know what will happen with Kemp next season and North Kent is the best place to come from.

and Surrey look awful - says Bob

Just home after another farce of a floodlit game, the wind was a breeze, nothing like last year.

We had 43/44 overs in total so a 20/20 game could have been played to a finish, if the rules would allow umpires to make the decison on the day.

At least we were on the right end of a result, some consolation really for those who made a long journey.
